well that’s a question he hadn’t been expecting. it’s a little out of nowhere, actually, and sets him slightly on edge. there’s the chance that she’s about to tell him that she’s made a mistake, that she doesn’t want to see him any longer, and though he’s probably making a mountain out of a molehill, he can’t help himself. ‘ …should i be worried where this is going? ’

if he’s genuinely worried, then it certainly doesn’t show in his tone, which he keeps light, as if this is a joke, as if there isn’t a part of him that is genuinely worried. but fuck, he’s at her mercy here, and he can’t stand it. of course, he has no-one to blame for being the reason that he’s in this situation but himself, though that doesn’t mean that he’s happy about it.
